"We are hoping for a great turnout this year," said THON Chairperson Sara Johnson from Hermitage.  "Our committee members have been working extremely hard on this and other local THON fundraisers to help support kids who have cancer.  It is such a worthy cause and touches the hearts of so many people.  We hope our community will come out and support this event."

THON is the largest student run philanthropy in the world, where students passionately raise money to create awareness, opportunities, fund research, and assist families struggling with the fight against cancer.  Since 1977, when THON was first established, Penn State students have raised over $84 million dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund.  This effort engages more than 15,000 students across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and Penn State Shenango students are especially motivated to make a difference.  In 2011-2012, Penn State Shenango raised approximately $5,600 and is committed to making this year's fundraiser even more successful with the support of its community.

If you are unable to attend the event, but would like to make a contribution to help fight pediatric cancer, you may donate online at www.thon.org.  For more information, contact the Penn State Shenango Student Affairs office at 724-983-2836.
