Student who are experiencing a psychological or emotional crisis often need immediate help and intervention. Some examples of serious crises include:
- Suicidal or homicidal thoughts or impulses
- Sexual or physical assault
- A sense of overwhelming loss, such as a death in the family
- Hearing voices or otherwise misperceiving reality
Crisis Intervention at Penn State Shenango
The campus counseling office provides crisis intervention services during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 724-983-2841 or come to 207 Sharon Hall and MAKE IT CLEAR THAT YOU ARE IN CRISIS. Every effort will be made to respond as soon as possible. After hours, please call the Behavioral Health Commission's Crisis Intervention Services at (888) 275-7009, option #9.
Psychiatric Medications
Health Services staff at Shenango campus does not prescribe medications. If you are having a problem with a psychiatric medication, please call your prescribing physician immediately.
