Honors Requirements

Qualification Requirements

Incoming 1st-year students: SAT score above 1100 (1650 under the new SAT) and/or high-school GPA of 3.2 or better.
Students in progress: GPA of 3.5 or better for full-time students (after accumulating at least 12 credits in academic courses).

Program Requirements

Campus Honors Certificate

  • Submission of an Annual Academic Plan approved by the Honors Adviser. 
  • Completion of at least 36 credits at the lower division level, including a minimum of 9 credits of honors course work or four honors courses. Students are required to take at least two honors courses or honors options every academic year. 
  • A grade point average of at least 3.0 in honors course work. 
  • Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 is required; if the GPA falls below 3.5, they may request one probationary semester to raise it again. 
  • Maintain regular attendance at Honors Program meetings. 
  • Participation in appropriate co-curricular honors experience(s), such as community service, volunteer work, cultural experience, educational support (i.e. tutoring), and leadership experience.

College Honors Certificate 

  • Submission of an Annual Academic Plan approved by the Honors Adviser. 
  • Completion of at least nine credits of honors course work or four courses at the upper division level, including at least six credits at the 400-level. Students are required to take at least two honors courses or honors options every academic year. 
  • A grade point average of at least 3.0 in upper division honors course work. 
  • Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 is required; if the GPA falls below 3.5, they may request one probationary semester to raise it again. 
  • Maintain regular attendance at Honors Program meetings. 
  • Mandatory participation in at least one co-curricular honors experience(s), such as community service, volunteer work, cultural experience, educational support (i.e. tutoring), and leadership experience per academic year. 
  • Completion of an appropriate Capstone Project relevant to the major field of study.
