Penn State Shenango’s third Lecture Series event will feature Assistant Professor Lauren Altenburger of the campus’s human development and family studies program. Altenburger will present research in her lecture titled "It Takes a Village: Why Co-Parenting Matters for Child Development” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2.
Penn State Shenango Assistant Teaching Professor Lisa Bertin has established the Complete Penn State Shenango Scholarship by making a $12,500 pledge to the campus.
Penn State Shenango Athletic Director Amanda Howett joined the campus in 2021 as the department was on the brink of growing from a two-team program to developing a full portfolio of opportunities for students. For her cumulative experiences at Shenango and several Western Pennsylvania colleges and universities, Howett has been named to Forbes’ 2022 30 Under 30 list.
During the challenges of 2020, Penn State alumnus Bill Casey provided a gift of $100,000 to support students with unforeseen financial difficulties in completing their Penn State degrees.
In support of mental health wellness and suicide prevention, Penn State Shenango hosted the second annual Fresh Check Day for students. The event included seven interactive booths.
In alignment with the recent announcement from the White House on federal vaccination requirements, all Penn State employees at all locations are now subject to a federal COVID-19 vaccination requirement. The deadline for employees to receive their final dose of a vaccine is Jan. 4, 2022
Penn State Shenango’s VenturePointe Innovation Hub and the eCenter @ LindenPointe will host John R. Frangakis of Reynolds Services Inc. in celebration of Penn State’s Global Entrepreneurship Week. Viewers can tune into the event via Penn State Shenango’s YouTube page at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 18.
Penn State Shenango’s second Lecture Series event will feature Iffath Syed, assistant professor of health policy and administration. Syed will present research in her lecture titled “A Tale of Two Cities: the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable populations in Toronto, Canada and London, England” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11.
