Local students pitch business plans at Shenango marketing competition

It was West Middlesex High School students who came out on top in Penn State Shenango’s inaugural marketing competition on Saturday, April 2, held in the campus’ auditorium. Lakeview High School was close behind in second place, and Hickory High School students took third. The event was held in conjunction with the Greater Sharon Associates (GSA) and its Downtown Sharon Spring Fling. High school teams of two to five students were required to create and present an integrated marketing plan for this year’s Sharon Spring Fling.

Penn State Shenango to offer weeklong STEM camp in June and July

Penn State Shenango’s STEM Camp will be offered two weeks this summer, in June and July, due do its popularity in 2015. Middle school-aged children are invited to participate in the STEM day camps, which run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20-24 and July 11-15. Both weeks offer the exact same programs. The weeklong STEM camps, which stand for science, technology, engineering and math, will be available to students entering grades seven, eight and nine this coming fall.

Shenango campus results included in survey on sexual mi

Penn State Shenango released the results of a survey of students’ experiences with and attitudes about sexual misconduct today (April 13), including a finding that 4.2 percent of students reported being the victim of at least one instance or attempt of sexual assault. The results are part of a comprehensive University-wide survey conducted last fall.

Faculty and staff Scoop 'N Paint fundraiser to support Shenango scholarship

The Penn State Shenango Heart of Shenango committee will host its inaugural “Scoop ‘N Paint” event at 5:30 p.m. April 21 at Cravings on Shenango Avenue in downtown Sharon. The cost of the event is $40 per person and includes all painting supplies, as well as two scoops of Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream. Ed Hallahan, Shenango campus art instructor, will teach individuals the correct technique of painting, and participants will leave the class with a beautiful painted sunflower.

Penn State Shenango to host 50th anniversary Blue & White Gala

On March 31, Penn State Shenango will host its 50th anniversary Blue & White Gala. The event will include remarks by Penn State President Eric Barron and keynote speaker Penn State Women’s Volleyball Coach Russell “Russ” Rose. The evening will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., including a cash bar, followed by dinner, presentations, a silent auction, and live music from the '80s cheese band Velveeta.
