Student Ashley Balas dreams of becoming stunt woman

Every girl has a dream of what she wants to be when she grows up — a dancer, teacher, nurse, doctor. Becoming a stunt woman, however, never crossed Ashley Balas’ young mind, although from the time she could walk, she was energetic, and, according to her mother, “ready to take on the world.”

Ashley Balas, a non-traditional student at Penn State Shenango, enjoys learning and working hard to some day become a pharmaceutical representative. However, it is the thrill of stunt work and acting that really keeps her life fulfilled.

Shenango to present 'Star Child' as annual holiday production Dec. 2-4

The Penn State Shenango Drama Club is in final rehearsals for its presentation of the original comedy "Star Child." The holiday production will launch at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, with matinee performances on Dec. 3 and 4. Admission, which is $8 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, and $5 for children under age 4, includes a snack at intermission and an opportunity to visit with Santa after the show.

Shenango drama club to present 'How the Grouch Saved Christmas' Dec. 4-6

The Penn State Shenango Drama Club will be presenting an original musical, 'How the Grouch Saved Christmas,' designed to appeal to children of all ages the weekend of Dec. 4-6. The show playfully weaves pop cultural references to The Minions, Star Wars, princesses, Legos, and much more into a story that is ultimately heartwarming. The musical will launch with an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Penn State Shenango Auditorium. There will also be two matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 6.
