On behalf of our faculty, students, and staff, it’s my pleasure to welcome you to Penn State Shenango. Thank you for visiting us here online. I hope you enjoy your online tour of our beautiful campus that spans across 13 acres set in downtown Sharon, Pennsylvania, and is the only urban campus among the Penn State Commonwealth campuses.
Penn State Shenango is a student-centered campus. We have an enrollment of approximately 500 students, an average class size of 15 students, and a student to faculty ratio of 12:1. This intimate environment for learning and teaching is well suited to a student body equally divided between traditional and non-traditional students. With our small class sizes and dedicated faculty and staff, we can ensure that our students will receive the very best Penn State has to offer but in an intimate campus environment. They receive the best of both worlds, i.e. the outstanding education offered by Penn State, an internationally-renowned University, and the one-on-one attention that helps students thrive and achieve their goals.
We’re proud to offer the first two years of almost all of Penn State’s 160+ majors, which can be completed at Penn State University Park or several other Penn State locations. For students who want to complete their degree here at Shenango, we offer six baccalaureate degrees in human development and family studies; business – marketing and management; project and supply chain management; administration of justice; letters, arts and sciences with the liberal studies option; and the B.S. in nursing for RNs.
A range of associate degrees is also available at Penn State Shenango, including business administration; human development and family studies; letters, arts, and sciences; occupational therapist assistant; and physical therapist assistant.
Among its amenities, Shenango provides complete Internet service for all students including e-mail, Wi-Fi, web space, e-Portfolio space, computer labs, and the ability for students to access the course materials and email on the web from home. Professional tutoring services are available for free at the Shenango Academic Resource Center (SHARC). The campus is two blocks from the shops and restaurants of downtown Sharon and boasts ample free parking in an extremely safe campus environment.
At Shenango campus, we offer a wide variety of student activities, intramural sports, and special campus programs that provide our students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, both in and out of the classroom and on and off the playing field. In addition, our faculty are dedicated to giving our students unique experiences within the community as well as providing opportunities for international travel to study abroad.
We at Penn State Shenango are committed to the success of our students. Whether you are a recent high school graduate, a person who’s been in the world-of-work for several years, or someone interested in the kind of individual enhancement that can be achieved in an institution of higher learning, we have something here on campus for you. Visit us, call us, or explore other parts of this website. We think that when you get to know us better, you will be pleased with the opportunities we offer you close to home.
