Stamp Out Stigma event to focus on postpartum depression

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 15 percent of women who have recently given birth suffer from postpartum depression. This year’s Stamp Out Stigma (SOS) at Penn State Shenango will feature a presentation on the subject at its fourth annual SOS event to be held from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Great Hall of Sharon Hall located on Vine Avenue in downtown Sharon, Pennsylvania. The event is free and open to the public.

Penn State Shenango Halloween Party to benefit kids with cancer

Penn State Shenango’s Students Benefiting THON organization will host its annual Halloween Party from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 in the Shenango campus auditorium located across from the Sharon Post Office in downtown Sharon. The admission cost is $2; children two and under are free. The event is open to the public; children 17 and younger must be accompanied by a parent.

Penn State Shenango to present 'A Christmas Pudding'

The Penn State Shenango Drama Club has announced plans to kick off the Christmas season by presenting a celebration of readings and carols under the title of 'A Christmas Pudding.' The production will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 2, and at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, in the campus auditorium, located in downtown Sharon.

Shenango faculty receive sub-grant from PA Commission on Crime and Deliquency

Penn State Shenango recently hosted 15 law enforcement officers from area police departments, the Mercer County Jail and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation Parole at the downtown Sharon campus for a week-long Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training workshop made possible through a grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

Shenango campus annual collection drive for Toys for Tots begins

Penn State Shenango will once again be sponsoring a toy drive to benefit the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program this holiday season. The annual community collection drive, staffed by the Shenango campus Physical Therapy Assistant students and faculty, will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Hermitage Walmart Super Center.

Penn State Shenango kicks off December with 'A Christmas Pudding'

Whatever your Christmas traditions, they are most likely included in the Penn State Shenango Drama Club’s production of "A Christmas Pudding," to be held the first weekend of December in the campus Auditorium. A reading from the Gospel of Luke? Scrooge and Tiny Tim? Singing Christmas carols? Virginia being told "Yes, there is a Santa Claus"? Yes, they are all there ... and much more.

Male and female SynDavers provide students realistic hands-on experience

From sixth grade STEAM campers to high school college visitors, each semester, Penn State Shenango welcomes these and other students to see what is unique and special about the downtown Sharon campus. While students get to see and participate in many events that Shenango has to offer, nothing gets more attention than the campus’ biology lab and its two SynDaver assistants, “Ana” and “Tomy.”
