    Biography

    Dr. Joan Humphrey is the Nursing Coordinator, an Assistant Teaching Professor of Nursing, Certified Nurse Educator, and a practicing board-certified family nurse practitioner. She began teaching at Penn State Shenango as an adjunct instructor in 2001 and in 2014 was the recipient of the Margaret Cunningham Foley Memorial Teaching Award. 

    She is a lifelong resident of the Shenango Valley and enjoys actively volunteering her time with various community organizations, including assisting as a funded grant writer, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County.  As a nursing professional, Dr. Humphrey is involved in both the emergency and urgent care settings. She has a passion for promoting professionalism among nurses, and dedicates her energies as an advocate for championing nursing students to be life-long learners of both the art and the science of nursing.
