Shenango hires two local former basketball standouts for new athletic program

Two area veteran basketball standouts and well-respected coaches have joined the Penn State Shenango Men’s Basketball coaching staff. Geoffrey Evans, former assistant coach for the Hickory Hornets, and David Jackson, former Penn State Nittany Lion basketball player, will unite with Penn State Shenango Head Basketball Coach Andre Smith to share his vision for the campus’s reinstated athletic program which begins this fall.

West Middlesex native hired to establish women's volleyball program at Shenango

Nicole Nych, of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, has accepted the position of head women’s volleyball coach at Penn State Shenango, effective July 1. The recent West Middlesex High School head girls’ volleyball coach was a former collegiate player at Waynesburg University and Slippery Rock University.

Intercollegiate athletics programs at Penn State’s 19 Commonwealth Campuses have entered into a four-year partnership with Nike through BSN Sports for sports apparel and equipment.

Penn State Shenango signs three-year contract with Buhl Community Recreation Center

Penn State Shenango signs three-year contract with Buhl Community Center

“It should be a win-win situation for both of us,” said Penn State Shenango Business and Finance Director Bill Dungee nearly one year ago. Dungee was referring to the campus’ newly reinstated athletic program and its collaboration with the Buhl Community Recreation Center in Sharon, Pennsylvania. The Shenango campus recently signed a three-year contract with the Buhl Center to utilize its facilities.
