Update: Penn State Shenango is not currently enrolling new students. Current students can access academic advising and degree planning through campus services.
Unsure of a major? You’re not alone.
Around 80% of students entering Penn State aren’t entirely sure about their choice of major. Perhaps you have dreams, goals, and ideas, but you aren’t quite sure how to put them all together.
Penn State’s Division of Undergraduate Studies pre-major can give you the time and guidance to create an academic plan you’re excited about.
While deciding is simple for some, it’s not that easy for the majority of students. Often described as “undecided,” our Division of Undergraduate Studies students work with our team of professional advisers to research your options, explore interests, and – ultimately – decide on your perfect major.
What to expect in the Division of Undergraduate Studies
Making the most out of your Penn State education is a process that includes thinking about who you are and who you want to become. Your adviser is here as your partner on this journey, helping you navigate the requirements, policies, and endless opportunities of being a Penn Stater.
While you can stay in the Division of Undergraduate Studies for up to two years, most students are required to declare a major as they get ready to enter their junior year - this is the time when most have met the entrance to major requirements of their intended major.
