Registration

Helping you get there

Penn State’s University Registrar facilitates a variety of processes that range from re-enrolling a former student, to organizing graduation, and even processing transcripts and diplomas.

While you should consult with your academic adviser before completing any registration activity, the Registrar works to coordinate and provide resources for Shenango’s academic activities.

Registration types

New first-year student

Incoming new students should work with Admissions to establish their most appropriate enrollment path. For most, this includes applying to Penn State Shenango.

If you're an incoming first-year, you must attend a New Student Orientation program to meet your academic adviser and discuss your schedule. At that time, you'll be able to schedule your classes.

Transfer or advanced standing student

New transfer students should work with Admissions to identify their most appropriate enrollment path, but applying to Penn State Shenango is the most common process.

New transfer students are required to meet with their academic adviser at a Transitional Orientation program to schedule courses.

Re-enrolled student

If you're an undergraduate degree student who wants to enroll at Penn State after taking time off, you must contact an academic adviser to discuss your course options and goals. Following that meeting, you may register for courses.

Current student

If you're a current student, you should meet with your academic adviser to discuss your course options and goals, then register for courses.

Provisional student

If you're a provisional student, you must meet with your academic adviser to discuss your course options and goals.

Non-degree student

Students who wish to enroll in courses as a non-degree student must complete the Non-degree Enrollment Form through the Registrar's Office. Enrollment as a non-degree student does not imply admission to the University. The student must make formal Admissions application to be considered an undergraduate degree candidate.

Non-degree categories

Regular

There are no special restrictions to the non-degree regular status; advising is not required but is still recommended. All non-degree students register for a class on a space-available basis.

Conditional

Students previously dropped from degree status because of poor scholarship at Penn State or any other college or university may enroll only in a non-degree conditional status. Restrictions are applied to students registering in a non-degree conditional status:

  • Limited to 12 credits per semester
  • Limited to 30 credits overall while in this status
  • Must obtain academic advising before registering

Transcripts

An official transcript from Penn State represents the complete academic record of a student's enrollment at the University. Visit the University Registrar's website to review ways to obtain transcripts.

Graduation planning

Penn State Shenango's Registration office guides students approaching the end of their Penn State story through the graduation planning process throughout their final semester.

Through regular emails and engagement with your academic adviser, the Registrar can help you file intent to graduate, provide ceremony details, and facilitate after-graduation needs like diplomas and transcripts.
