SHARON, Pa. — Danny Hughley III, a spring 2025 graduate who earned a business degree from Shenango in the management and marketing track, spent the spring 2025 semester as an intern at the eCenter at LindenPointe in Hermitage.

In this Q&A, Danny shares his duties and responsibilities at eCenter, and discusses how his internship experience prepared him for his future career goals.

Q: How did you learn about the internship at the eCenter at LindenPointe?

A: This internship opportunity came about through the assistance of Cassandra McCowin in the Student Affairs office at Shenango, and my Athletic Director Brandon Padgett.

Q: What was your role at the eCenter, and what projects were you tasked with as part of your internship?

A: I helped at the eCenter by handling daily work, managing the social media page and supporting any tasks required by the businesses that call LindenPointe their home. I also worked with the eAcademy, where I assisted students with their business ideas and helped with their marketing efforts.

Q: What classroom experiences at Shenango prepared you for your roles at this internship?

A: My courses in Business Management and Marketing, especially in areas such as digital marketing, social media strategy, and business communication, provided a solid foundation for my work at the eCenter. Additionally, my experience in managing projects and working with diverse teams in other classes prepared me to handle various tasks at the internship effectively.

Q: What are the key lessons you learned during your internship experience?

A: I learned the importance of adaptability and time management when juggling multiple tasks. I’ve also gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship by assisting students with their business ideas. The experience has improved my ability to work with different kinds of businesses and clients, while enhancing my skills in social media marketing and customer relations.

Q: How were you able to apply your real-world internship experiences to your classes at Shenango?

A: The real-world experience I gained through this internship allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge from my business courses to practical situations. I was able to better understand and contribute to class discussions, especially when it came to marketing strategies, entrepreneurship, and business operations. This hands-on experience allowed me to approach my other assignments with a more informed and practical mindset.

Q: What career(s) are you interested in after graduation, and has your internship experience helped you towards reaching those goals?

A: I’m interested in pursuing a career in marketing, specifically in the real estate or tech sectors. My internship experience has helped me develop practical skills in social media management, marketing strategies, and entrepreneurship, which are all relevant to the roles I’m aiming for. Additionally, I’ve been able to apply the knowledge I’ve gained from my own business idea, which has given me valuable insights into the challenges and strategies that can guide my future career decisions.
