As lifelong residents of the Shenango Valley and community volunteers in many organizations, Henry and Dorothy (Dottie) Bieber shared a vision for a brighter future for Shenango Valley and those who live there.
The Biebers understood the significance of receiving a good education. The couple had four degrees between them, and Dottie made a career of it, teaching fourth grade in the Farrell School District for many years. In 2005, Dottie created the Henry and Dorothy Bieber Trustee Scholarship with a $50,000 gift as a legacy to support students attending Penn State Shenango. Since the creation of the fund, approximately 40 students have benefited from this scholarship, awarding over $78,000.
This scholarship lifts local students and helps them achieve their goals for a brighter future, self-sufficiency, and more fulfilling lives. These advantages will carry over not just for the students but our community.
Established in 1965, the Shenango campus is located on 13 acres set in downtown Sharon, PA. Sharon is in western Pennsylvania, near the Ohio border, and is a part of the rust belt. Shenango is the only urban campus among the 20 Penn State Commonwealth campuses, and more than 93 percent of students receive some form of financial assistance.
All donations are most welcome. Thank you for your consideration on behalf of the Bieber family and the students you will be supporting.
