The Penn State Shenango Drama Club has announced that it will be partnering with Lawrence Mercer Athena International to hold auditions for Eve Ensler’s "The Vagina Monologues" from 1 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 21 in the Penn State Shenango Auditorium
Penn State Shenango will host its fifth annual THON spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 20 in the campus auditorium. The event is sponsored by Penn State Shenango benefiting THON and various local restaurants. All proceeds will support kids with cancer.
Prize winners have been announced for Penn State's annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Days. The event, which ran from Nov. 16 to Dec. 9, featured many chances to win prizes, including the grand prize of a Pittsburgh Steelers game-day package.
This fall approximately 5,247 Penn State students will receive their diplomas. University-wide there will be 252 associate, 3,936 baccalaureate, 762 master's, 11 law and 286 doctoral degrees awarded. Penn State Shenango will hold its 2016 fall commencement ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Shenango campus auditorium, with a reception immediately following. Jo Anne Carrick, campus director, will confer baccalaureate and associate degrees on 37 graduating students. William R. Kiefer, president and CEO of A. Stucki Co., will be the guest speaker.
Applications for the Penn State Secondary Mathematics Noyce Scholarship Program must be submitted by Jan. 18, 2017. The competitive renewable scholarships will provide $19,000 per year for eligible students’ last two years of college.
Five students from Penn State Beaver, Shenango and New Kensington are helping to implement Bridges to Life, a restorative justice program, in Beaver County. As the inaugural cohort of Beaver County-based facilitators, the students will not only go into the Beaver County Jail to work with inmates, but they will also be responsible for training future volunteers of the Bridges program and extending the reach of restorative justice.
The Penn State Shenango Drama Club will present an original comedy, "Star Child," this weekend, Dec. 2-4, continuing its tradition of offering the community a holiday play designed to appeal to children of all ages.
Penn State Shenango will host the Pennsylvania DUI Moving Memorial from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 7 in the south wing of Parking Lot A located on Penn Avenue in downtown Sharon. The traveling memorial pays homage to the victims of DUI crashes in Pennsylvania.
The Penn State Shenango Drama Club is in final rehearsals for its presentation of the original comedy "Star Child." The holiday production will launch at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, with matinee performances on Dec. 3 and 4. Admission, which is $8 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, and $5 for children under age 4, includes a snack at intermission and an opportunity to visit with Santa after the show.
