Shenango students recognized for academic excellence in fall semester

Penn State Shenango congratulates and would like to recognize its students who made the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. Full-time students who are on the Dean’s List must have earned a 3.5 grade-point average or better for the semester. Part–time students—those completing less than 12 credits each semester for two or more consecutive semesters—are indicated by an asterisk (*).

Come to Earth Fest 2018 to enjoy music, activities, an artists’ market and more

Adults and children of all ages are invited to join the fun as Penn State Shenango holds Earth Fest 2018 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the campus in downtown Sharon. The event, which offers free admission and is open to the public, will include live music and entertainment, an educational presentation on climate change, children’s activities, a local artists’ market, and much more.

Shenango students, faculty and staff fight addiction on the basketball court

It’s not March Madness but it will be a serious basketball clash when the Penn State Shenango faculty and staff take on the Shenango students in a rematch game Friday, March 23 at the Kennedy Catholic Eagles’ gymnasium in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, to raise funds to help those who suffer from addiction.

Upcycled Art Contest a popular event for kids at Shenango Earth Day celebration

Penn State Shenango is gearing up for its annual Upcycled Art Contest, which is held in conjunction with the campus’ Earth Day celebration on April 7. The contest was designed to inspire elementary and middle school students to create treasure from “trash.”

Shenango to host Penn State alumnus’ illustrated talk on Evan Pugh

On Wednesday, March 21, the Penn State Shenango Alumni Society and the Lawrence County Alumni Chapter invite the public to hear Distinguished Alumnus Roger L. Williams present an illustrated talk on “Evan Pugh’s Penn State” at 5:30 p.m. in the Shenango campus Auditorium, located on Shenango Avenue in downtown Sharon. The event is free and open to the public.

The United States Collegiate Athletic Association officially announced the reinstatement of Penn State Shenango to the USCAA after being confirmed by its board of directors in January.

Penn State funds entrepreneurship centers in each of its 21 campus communities

As part of its Invent Penn State initiative, Penn State Feb. 5 announced four new seed grants, each valued at $50,000, designed to bolster entrepreneurship and economic development in communities surrounding Penn State campuses across the Commonwealth. With the announcement, the University’s effort has grown to include 21 hubs for innovation spread across Pennsylvania, including the Shenango campus — an undertaking that was introduced by Penn State President Eric J. Barron just two and a half years ago.

Support Shenango's THON spaghetti dinner to help kids with cancer

Penn State Shenango will hold its sixth annual THON spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 9 in the campus auditorium. The event is sponsored by Penn State Shenango Benefiting THON and various local restaurants. All proceeds will support kids with cancer.

Penn State campuses partner on MLK Day service projects

Students from six Penn State campuses, including Penn State Behrend, participated in public service projects in Erie on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. They repaired bicycles, ran bingo games and sorted clothes at a community shelter.

STEM Camp returns to Penn State Shenango for summer 2018

Penn State Shenango’s popular STEM Camp will be offered again this summer to middle school-aged children. The weeklong day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 18 through Friday, June 22.
