Raised in an Amish community in Pennsylvania until the age of 23, Linda Byler, a 4.0 student who graduated from Penn State Shenango in December 2015, knew at a very young age that she would leave the old-order sect to pursue her dreams and live a life that included more than what limited options were available to her.
The Penn State Shenango Alumni Society will host its third annual Cornhole Tournament July 30 at Quaker Steak and Lube in downtown Sharon. The event’s proceeds and a portion of food sales from 3 to 9 p.m. will go to Penn State Shenango student scholarships.

Allison M. Engstrom has been hired as Penn State Shenango’s new director of development and alumni relations, effective June 20. Engstrom comes to the Shenango campus from Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, where she held the position of development coordinator for special events and annual fund.
