SHARON, Pa. — Jennifer Jewell, teaching professor in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Penn State Shenango, recently presented at the 18th Annual Physical Therapy Education Leadership Conference: Pursuing Excellence and Innovation in Physical Therapy Education.

Jewell, along with colleagues from multiple peer institutions, presented two sessions as part of the conference: “Better Together: Participant Perception of a Virtual Community of Practice for PTA Educators,” and “PTA Admissions: Innovative Strategies for Success.”

“This was a great opportunity to collaborate and disseminate best practices in physical therapist assistant education with my esteemed colleagues at the national level,” Jewell said.

The conference, held Oct. 13-15 in Philadelphia, is a collaborative effort between the APTA Academy of Education and the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy. The conference is designed to educate and facilitate discussion among physical therapy educators from around the country.

"This conference is always a refreshing change of pace,” said Jewell. “To be connected to other physical therapy educators nationally, helps me bring new and innovative teaching back to my students at Shenango.”
