The Sustainability Institute hosted the first of three forums at Penn State Beaver on May 7. Faculty, staff, students, and other leaders gathered to learn about the variety of activities, events, research and other programs taking place throughout the Commonwealth Campuses to advance the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals and the University's strategic plan.
Penn State University Libraries awarded its Undergraduate Research Award: Excellence in Information Literacy to students at nearly all undergraduate Penn State campuses in April, honoring 97 undergraduate students as well as eight graduate students participating in their respective campus-wide research exhibition events.
Penn State alumna Margaret U. Horne, director of Gannon University's Small Business Development Center, will be this year’s Penn State Shenango commencement speaker. The campus will hold its 2019 spring graduation ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, in the Shenango campus auditorium.
Andrew Frank’s involvement with Penn State Shenango comes full circle 35-plus years after he first arrived on campus in the early 1980s as a student and then as a volunteer coach for women’s athletics. Frank, a native of Farrell, will return to Shenango as the assistant women’s volleyball coach for the team’s inaugural season this fall.
Twelve Penn State Shenango students and two staff members who traveled to Belize in March will share their stories and pictures during an alternative spring break presentation at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, in the campus Forker Lab Forum. The community is invited to attend and learn how this annual trip impacted their lives, as well as the lives of the community they served.
Penn State Shenango will host author and speaker Jamie Marich for a free, one-hour-long training in the basics of mindfulness at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, April 15, in the Forker Lab Forum, and the community is invited to attend.
In February, Ali Izzo and Holly Masters were notified that they were chosen as one of six Penn State University undergraduate student (or recent alumni) companies from more than 25 teams who submitted business video pitches to the Inc.U competition and would be competing to win a portion of the $30,000 prize to jump-start their company, as well as to earn a spot on Penn State WPSU’s television show "The Investment."
Entrepreneurs across the University will pitch their business ideas and create inventive solutions to common problems through a series of competitions and challenges held during Penn State Startup Week from April 1-5. The challenges are at the heart of Startup Week’s mission of teaching and inspiring participants to make innovation a part of their lives, communities and careers, either by starting their own companies or bringing a problem-solving approach to established organizations.
Penn State Shenango Associate Teaching Professor Jennifer Jewell was awarded the professional designation of board-certified clinical specialist in geriatric physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties of the American Physical Therapy Association.
