The Penn State Shenango Staff Advisory Committee (SAC) has once again come up with a strategy to help students in need. This spring, SAC’s Student Focus Subcommittee established “The Nittany Nook,” a grab-and-go type food pantry located in two areas on campus: Sharon Hall room 207 and the Lartz Memorial Library. The Nook provides students with instant meals and snacks while they are on campus. In addition to addressing students’ hunger needs, the subcommittee is also providing information on community resources.
Children's Specialist and Forensic Interviewer Derek Stotsky, along with Associate Director at Mercer County CYS Maggie Saxe, provide training to Penn State Shenango HDFS students.
Penn State Shenango’s Human Development and Family Studies department, in conjunction with the Mercer County Children’s Advocacy Center and the Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission, recently hosted Stewards of Children, an evidence-informed, child abuse prevention program, on the local Penn State campus.
Penn State Shenango will continue its 2018-19 Lecture Series with a talk on “Local Engineering” presented by Matthew Caputo, assistant teaching professor of engineering, at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in Lecture Hall 223. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
