Shenango Alumni Society Golf Outing
June
Since 2001, the Penn State Shenango Alumni Society has hosted its annual golf outing to raise money for scholarships and program support. This is the society’s biggest fundraiser and is always held the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend. For information on team registration, prize donations, or volunteering, contact the campus’s Alumni Office.
Shenango Alumni Society Cornhole Tournament

Since 2013, the Penn State Shenango Alumni Society has hosted its annual Cornhole Tournament to raise money for scholarships and program support. For information on team registration, prize donations, or volunteering, contact the campus’ Alumni Office.
Ice Cream Scooping at Hermitage Arts Festival
August
Students and staff scoop and sell Penn State Berkey Creamery Ice Cream at this event as a fundraiser for the campus’s Alternative Spring Break trip.

Stamp Out Stigma Event
September or October
Through personal stories and education, this program seeks to open up a dialogue about the prevalence of mental health disorders, the importance of treatment, and how to support others who struggle with mental health and addiction.
Dr. Jane Williams 5K
October
In memory of Jane Williams, a staff member for 25 years at Penn State Shenango, this annual 5K run and 1.5 mile walk is held on the Shenango campus each fall. Proceeds benefit the campus’s Dr. Jane A. Williams Memorial Trustee Scholarship.
OT Global Day of Service
October
The occupational therapy assistant students participate in a service-minded event by volunteering at a community organization, such as a local mental health, skilled nursing facility, or community based program, to provide activities and awareness of occupational therapy services.
Halloween Dance
October
This event is typically sponsored by student clubs and offers a family-friendly dance, costume contest, crafts, games, and snacks for the public.
Hustle for Muscle 5K
November
Gizelle Dean, PTA Club
The PTA Club sponsors a 5K Run/Walk annually to support the club’s mission of improving health and wellness. This annual event allows PTA students to raise money to support their licensing review course. Additional monies are donated to support community organizations and the physical therapy profession.
Girl Scout Badge Day
November
Girl Scouts of all ages spend one day on campus completing hands-on activities with Penn State faculty and students. Each Scout typically earns a badge or completes a patch program for her level of Scouting.
Holiday Light Parade
November
Penn State Shenango faculty, staff, and students volunteer to decorate a holiday float to represent the Shenango campus in the annual Hermitage Holiday Light Up Parade.
Toys for Tots
November/December
Each November, the campus participates in the Marine Corps Toys for Tots fundraising drive by collecting toys at a local retail store, as well as organizing specific areas on the campus to be community drop-off locations for toys.
THON Spaghetti Dinner

THON Club President, Student Affairs
Each spring semester, the Penn State Shenango Benefitting THON organization holds a Spaghetti Dinner to raise money for kids with cancer. Pre-sale tickets are available from club members or in the Student Affairs office. Tickets are also available the day of the event.
Diversity Series
February
Each Wednesday in February, various diversity-based events, including speakers, movies, activities, discussions, are held for students and community members.
SGA Week of Service
March
A designated week of community service that all Penn State Student Government Associations across the Commonwealth participate in. Service projects vary from year to year.
Earth Fest
April
Celebrate Earth Day at Penn State with live music, educational presentations, activities for families, food vendors, an artists' market, information from environmentally-friendly local businesses and organizations, and a display of upcycled art made by local K-12 students.
Upcycled Art Contest (displayed at annual Earth Fest event)

Earth Fest Committee
The Earth Fest Upcycled Art Contest has been designed to inspire elementary and middle school students to create treasure from “trash.” The process used to create these beautiful pieces of art will enable students to demonstrate their ability to reuse objects for a new purpose. The contest is open to students living within and around the Penn State Shenango community and is held in conjunction with the Earth Fest event on campus.
Scoop and Paint
March/April
Phil Nash and Erika Jones
The Heart of Shenango Scholarship Committee hosts its annual Scoop and Paint fundraiser each spring. Participants are offered hearty scoops of Berkery Creamery ice cream to enjoy while painting a work of art. The class is led by a local artist or Penn State alumni. All proceeds are donated to the Heart of Shenango Scholarship, which offers financial assistance to transfer students entering a four-year degree program at the Shenango campus.
