PSU 008 is intended to facilitate student's adjustment to the high expectations, demanding workload, increased academic liberties, and other aspects of the transition to college life. By university-wide standards, PSU 008 is required of any student seeking to complete a degree at Penn State.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Use the Penn State email and Canvas technology
- Adapt and apply appropriate academic strategies to succeed in college, including note and test taking skills, and time management while making a positive connection to the university
- Understand different learning styles, personality types, and interest areas
- Demonstrate how to effectively utilize the university library
- Identify appropriate campus resources in the Penn State system via offices and internet
- Determine the academic requirements and produce a degree audit for the chosen focus of study
- Develop and apply networking skills with peers, faculty, and staff
