The Penn State Shenango 2019-20 Lecture Series will continue with a presentation by Tammy Divens, assistant teaching professor in occupational therapy at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 in Lecture Hall 223. Divens’ lecture, “Mindful Living to Overcome Opioid Addiction,” will share on mindsets that influence recovery, the concept of neuroplasticity and confronting addiction from a holistic perspective.
Through participation in the Penn State LionPulse initiative, an outreach effort of Penn State PRO Wellness, Penn State Shenango now offers a stress-free zone — a walk-in space where students, faculty and staff can take time for self-care and reduce stress through mind-body relaxation.
With the start of a new semester, the Penn State Shenango Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is gearing up fundraising efforts for its two major initiatives — Fuel for the Future Fund and The Nittany Nook Food Pantry. In addition to several campus events during "SAC-tober," the committee will be raising funds through a crowdfunding page on the Let’s Grow State website.
The stress-free zone at Penn State Shenango includes a massage chair, a mediation/yoga station, and a computer station with a natural daylight lamp to improve mood, energy and concentration.
