Penn State celebrating Earth Day(s) with events throughout April

Earth Day is Saturday, April 22, but Penn State will celebrate Earth Day(s) with a variety of events for students, faculty, staff and the community throughout April. Activities are scheduled across the Commonwealth at many of Penn State's campuses, from Berks to University Park to Shenango.

Learn why sustainability is so important to our environment

Penn State Shenango will continue its 2016-17 Faculty Lecture Series with Tamrya d’Artenay, instructor in biology, at noon on Thursday, April 20, in Room 105 of Sharon Hall. The title of her lecture is “Why You Should Care About Sustainability Everyday—Not Just on Earth Day.” The event is free and open to the public.

HopeCAT is focus of Penn State Shenango marketing competition

Penn State Shenango held its second annual Marketing Competition on April 1 at the campus. The event was held in collaboration with the Hope Center for Arts and Technology (HopeCAT). Local high school teams from the e-Academy at LindenPointe, Farrell and Lakeview participated to create and present the best integrated marketing plan to recruit high school students for HopeCAT’s after-school Youth Arts training program as it expands throughout the region.

Shenango campus Drama Club donates show proceeds to Community Food Warehouse

The Penn State Shenango Drama Club on March 29 presented a check for $825 to Mimi Prada, public relations coordinator for the Community Food Warehouse. The donation came from proceeds brought in by the Drama Club’s holiday production “Star Child,” which was written and directed by Jeanne Zingale, instructor in communications at the Shenango campus.

Earth Fest 2017 will feature live music, kids’ activities, artists and more

Adults and children of all ages are invited to join the fun as Penn State Shenango holds Earth Fest 2017 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, at the campus in downtown Sharon, Pennsylvania. The event, which offers free admission and is open to the public, will include live music and entertainment, children’s activities, a local artists’ market, Penn State Berkey Creamery Ice Cream, and information from sustainability-minded local organizations and businesses.
