WPIC to be the voice of the Penn State Shenango Lions

News Talk Radio 790 WPIC will be the voice of Penn State Shenango Men’s Basketball this coming fall. The Shenango campus recently signed a one-year contract with Cumulus Media, which owns WPIC, to air the Lions’ men’s basketball home and several of its away games.

“When Bob (Greenburg) came to us with the WPIC proposal,” said Bill Dungee, director of business and finance at Penn State Shenango, “I was very interested and knew I wanted to explore it further. WPIC has a strong reputation for providing great sports coverage in our community. The relationship will give our athletic program, starting with our men’s basketball team, great visibility and allow the community to become fully engaged, whether it’s watching the game or listening in their homes or on the road.”

Penn State fans will be able to tune into the games wherever they are by downloading WPIC’s app on any device, including their cell phones, IPads, and desktop/laptop computers. Games will also be streamed live at 790WPIC.com. Following each game, WPIC will be providing the campus a complete game audio which will be posted online at shenangoathletics.com.

In addition to broadcasting the local Lions’ 11 home and four of its away games, WPIC will be airing a 5 minute Coaches Show during each pre-game show, as well as a 15 minute coaches interview on their Coaches Corner Show every Saturday morning between 9 and 11 a.m. on WPIC 790 and SportsRadio 96.7. During each game’s half-time show, WPIC will also host a Penn State Shenango guest to give an update on what’s going on at the local campus.

“Our technology will permit Penn State Shenango men’s basketball alumni, parents, friends and  fans to listen to the games on their radios, computers or on our convenient app,” said Bob Greenburg, WPIC sports director and sales manager. “WPIC has had a long history of covering high school sports at a very high level in the Shenango Valley and look forward to providing the same professional coverage for Penn State Shenango men’s basketball for years to come.”

The Penn State Shenango Men’s Basketball program’s first home game opener will be played on Nov. 10 against Point Park University out of Pittsburgh in the newly renovated gymnasium at the Buhl Community Recreation Center in Sharon.
